Paint big, paint crazy, loosen up and dump those inhibitions! Focus on painting spontaneously and authentically, discover how to evaluate your work, learn when to stop and when to push forward, and move beyond fear and self-doubt.


Within an authentic, supportive environment, the workshop focuses on:


- a ton of personal painting time and individual guidance

- daily group discussions, optional painting exercises and demonstrations

- techniques to loosen up and get unstuck

- ways to find your voice and artistic freedom

- exploring the fears and self-doubt around your work

Supply List


The majority of this workshop is dedicated to independent painting. You should bring materials that you are accustomed to

working with in your independent painting practice. When in doubt, bring less, it makes travel easier and will often allow for

the opportunity to produce amazing results as you challenge yourself. Please see the list below and understand that is only a

SUGGESTED supply list. Do not feel obligated to purchase everything listed on the supply list.


Notebook: for note taking and possible drawing


Rolled Canvas (Max. Length 72”): Depending on how quickly you create, you will probably want to have somewhere

between4 - 8 canvases. (bigduckcanvas.com, dickblick.com) Preparing canvases in advance by cutting and marking them

will save you lots of time, but you can do it as you go also.


Paints: Please bring all water based. Bring whatever paint choices that you use in your painting practice with the exception

of oil or solvent based paints.


Brushes:

Bring a selection of what you presently use, including a 4” or larger brush

A rubber shaper tool or bowl scraper, and palette knives

Dowels or long sticks, if you have them and are not flying

Acrylic Gel Mediums: Bring any kind of acrylic gel medium that you would like to experiment with.

Glazing mediums, Gel Mediums, Extra Heavy Gloss Medium for setting water soluble marks.


Mark Making Tools:

Stabilo Woody Pencil(s) or Art Graf water soluble Pencils/Chalk, Water Based Crayons- Caran d’Ache II


Miscellaneous:

Masking Tape

Blue Shop Towels, Paper plates or freezer paper for palettes, Plastic containers for mixing and storing leftover paint, Wide Masking Tape
